Thee Whimsical Dream

Lovingly remembered

"Some horses come into your life and change everything. Dream was that horse for me. He was given to me when he was just 3 months old. We grew up together, and for 22 years, he was a constant presence throughout my life. Dream wasn’t just a horse, he was my best friend, protector, and reason to get up on the hardest days. I live with dysautonomia, and there were times when standing upright felt impossible. But no matter how hard those days were, he always made the effort worth it. Every time I called his name, he would come thundering across the pasture, calling back to me like seeing me was the best part of his day.

He was strong, loyal, and fiercely loving. He always seemed to know when I needed him most, and over the years was somehow even able to alert me a good 10 minutes ahead of time before I would have a hemiplegic migraine attack. I always joked that I wished he was much smaller so I could take him everywhere as my early alert system. He grounded me when everything felt uncertain and gave me strength when my body couldn’t. Now the barn feels impossibly quiet without him. Losing him has left an emptiness I can’t quite put into words, but I’m endlessly grateful for the years we shared, for the lessons he taught me, and for the love that will never fade."
