So, a few weeks ago, I dusted off my old equipment, ordered a few missing parts, and began to play.  My creative spirit has been renewed and I am excited about bringing the original vision for my work back to life.

Meaningful Art https://kristiescholten.com/blog/2023/2/meaningful-art I have a confession to make:  I'm a minimalist.  I can't stand junk or clutter. If there's something in my home, it either has to be useful or bring me joy.  And the same goes for what I hang on my walls. I've always believed that artwork in the home needs to be meaningful, not just some random piece purchased to fill an empty space.  This is what has inspired me to do what I do. A painting, drawing or photograph of a person, place or beloved pet that holds a place in your heart does more than bring memories, warmth and character to a room.  It becomes part of your story.

Each and every session, I look for moments that will translate into something that not only captures this sentiment, yet holds it's own as a work of art. Something that would catch your attention if you walked in to a gallery or an exhibition.  Something you would appreciate even if it weren't a photograph of you or your horse, or your child. But it's the connection is what makes it truly special. My goal is to create something timeless that will last for generations.  The canvas your heirs will fight over a hundred years from now. "Look at my great grandmother and her beautiful palomino when she was seventeen... wasn't she gorgeous?"

2023 Houston Dressage Society Winter Show https://kristiescholten.com/blog/2023/1/2023-houston-dressage-society-winter-show Great Southwest Equestrian Center

Katy, Texas

A few highlights from the 2023 Houston Dressage Society Winter Show...

If you missed out on photos this time, be sure to catch me a the Emerald Classic, Diamond Classic and HDS Summer Show.  I have two options for show photography... you can pay a $25 sitting fee and purchase your photos later, or you can pre-order your full gallery of ride photos for $!50.  I guarantee at least 20 nice, well timed, well composed images in your package, but most riders end up with 40-50.  But even if you only get the minimum, it's still a great deal!  You can sign up by emailing me at kristiescholten@gmail.com or by texting me at 832-971-8886.  It's never to early to get on the list, so give me a shout before you get busy preparing the week before the show.

In addition to ride photos, I usually have time during the weekend for at least a couple of mini portrait sessions. Horse shows are the only time I offer "mini sessions" and it's a great opportunity to capture a handful of fabulous horse and rider portraits with a reduced sitting fee and without travel expenses.  Plus, there are some really beautiful vignettes for photos around the equestrian center! These 20 minute portrait sessions are $50 and the orders are handled differently than my regular show photos.  Instead of ordering through my website, we'll set up a time to chat on the phone and I will assist you with finalizing your selections.  If you need help with sizes, I have software that will show you exactly how your portrait will look on the wall in your home or office  My prints and canvases are produced by one of the top labs in the country and all portraits are printed on mounted on double weight artboard and lustre coated for UV protection.  Because so much detail goes into one of my fine art portraits, I have a different price list for these products.  Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions you may have about pricing and availability.
